House filled with gas, body found, children asleep

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (AP) -- An early morning report of a man
shooting at cars led police to discover the body of a woman in a
house filled with natural gas. Two children sleeping in the home
were fine.

"The death is being investigated under very suspicious
circumstances," Broken Arrow Capt. Todd Wuestewald said. He said
the natural gas appeared to be intentionally turned on. The cause
of the woman's death and her identity weren't immediately released.

Police went to the house after arresting Harold Lee Freed Jr.,
41, on a complaint of assault with a deadly weapon.

"They could immediately smell the gas from outside the house,"
Wuestewald said.

Tulsa and Broken Arrow police were responding to a report of an
individual shooting at passing cars shortly after midnight in
southeast Tulsa. A canine unit located Freed and he was taken into
