(Cincinnati, Ohio-AP) -- Three Republican members of Congress today visited what has been one of the worst schools for academics in the Cincinnati school district.
U-S representatives J-C Watts of Oklahoma, Steve Chabot of Ohio and Anne Northup of Kentucky are touring schools to see how Washington can better support education. All three also back giving schools more flexibility in spending federal dollars.
Their bus tour has been dubbed the Education Express.
The first stop was the Clifton school, which was identified last year as one of the worst among the Cincinnati district's 79 schools.
The district has replaced the school's entire staff and has fixed up the 94-year-old building. Curriculum changes have also been made to focus on student achievement.
