A man accused of robbing a Tulsa bank has been taken into custody, and the police officer's wife who was mistaken as the robber is recovering from a gunshot wound at home. Jack Eugene Metzger, 30, was arrested Wednesday by Tulsa police and FBI agents at a Claremore bus station. He was on his way to Phoenix, Tulsa police Officer Lucky Lamons said. Metzger was being held on a complaint of armed robbery after he allegedly told employees at the Fraternal Order of Police Credit Union that he had a gun and demanded money before fleeing Tuesday afternoon. Tulsa Officer Larry Edwards was in the bank's office during the robbery. A teller gave Edwards, who was in uniform and on duty, a description of the car in which the suspect fled, Lamons said. Edwards ran outside where he saw a car leaving the bank's parking lot that matched the teller's description. He yelled for the driver to stop and then fired one shot through the car's windshield, which struck the woman in the shoulder. Jamie Myers, 50, was released from a Tulsa hospital Wednesday after spending the night for observation. Her husband, Cpl. Jack Myers, said the bullet was lodged in his wife's shoulder and would be removed at a later date. Edwards, 28, will not be placed on suspension for the shooting but the incident will be thoroughly investigated, Lamons said.
