ARDMORE, Okla. (AP) -- An Ardmore police sergeant has been suspended with pay following his weekend arrest on a drunken driving charge.
Deputy Chief John Beene said Sgt. Billy Eades was arrested early Sunday after a disturbance at a restaurant parking lot. Beene said six of the 10 people in the parking lot, including Eades, appeared to be victims of assault. Eades suffered minor facial injuries. Police department officials said he may face assault charges.
Beene said the investigation continues.
Eades, who was off duty, left the scene in his personal car with three others. Officers sent to stop the car and interview Eades arrested him for driving under the influence and took him to the Carter County Detention Center.
Eades has been with the force nine years. He is on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of a criminal and internal investigation and the pending charges.
