In a recent survey conducted by Forbe's Magazine, Tulsa's business environment ranked 32nd in the nation. Criteria used in the survey included job growth, personal income and high-tech output. Moreover, data published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics indicate that the area is growing faster than all but 22 metropolitian areas. Tulsa's reputation as a good place to conduct commerce is evidenced by the fact that over the past six months, 10 businesses have announced decisions either to relocate to Tulsa or expand existing operations. The result is a sharp increase in job creation.
Tulsa's rise to prominence can be attributed to its central location as well as favorable economics. Statistics indicate the cost of doing business in Tulsa is only 82.5 per cent of the national average. The cost of labor (incorporates labor force productivity) is 87.1 per cent of the national average, energy costs are 67.4 per cent, state and local tax burdens are 94.7 per cent and office costs are 63.3 per cent.
