If the worst day of your life is the day you get fired, maybe the best day is the day you discover you're already doing something for fun that you could turn into a business.

News on 6 reporter Rick Wells shows us there definitely is life after a pink slip. Joe Jack is busy building a doghouse, well more than a doghouse; it's a K9 Kondo. "This is a two dog 2 door model."

He built a 3 dog two-door model for his own dogs and that's how this whole thing got started. His neighbor wanted one for his dogs, and all of a sudden, when he got laid off, it looked like it could be a business. "With as many people as there are out there loving their dogs like we do, I think it's going to be very easy before too long."

So he put a web site together, had a booth at the Home and Garden show and what he found was these houses work for more than dogs. "A woman at the Home and Garden show wanted me to build one for her pot bellied pigs." And why not I guess, the houses are insulated on all four sideâ€™s top and bottom. It has removable walls so it can be open or compartmentalized. "I had some husbands who said I need one of these for me."

The one pictured is getting crated up and is heading to Florida. The one he was working on when the News on 6 got there Monday morning will be like it, almost. "I'm putting a porch and a deck, on the front of it." A square unit on the floor is a doghouse heat and air-conditioning unit and that's not all.

"I have had the craziest requests customed guttering, rock instead of siding." We ask for all that stuff because as the sign says â€œdogs are people too."
