McALESTER, Okla. (AP) _ Southeastern Oklahoma has the highest percentage of female farmers than any other part of the country.
Information from the Resource Conservation and Development Incorporated show that Oklahoma's Second Congressional District leads the country with both the most women in at least one of the tope three operating positions on a farm and in the number of farms with a female operator.
In Oklahoma, women own 29 percent of all privately held farms, according to the agency. In the United States 40 percent of all leased farmland in the United States is controlled by women.
