The chief Federal Judge for the Northern District of Oklahoma is beginning a new phase of his life.

Judge Sven Erik Holmes left the bench Friday after ten years. As part of his retirement, a portrait of the Judge was unveiled Friday at a farewell ceremony.

Holmes decided a series of high-profile federal cases during his time on the bench. He also brought naturalization ceremonies to area schools, presiding over about 30, which he calls the highest honor a federal judge can have.

On Monday, Holmes begins a new job as a legal officer for an accounting firm.
