Tulsa Police say a “yes†vote at the polls April 5th would give them some much needed elbow room.
Forensics officers say they're running out of space and they're asking voters for help. If the April bond issue passes, it would raise $250-million over the next five years to improve streets, bridges, sewers, police and fire protection.
Tulsa Police would get about $5-million, a million of which would go toward a larger forensics lab. Officers say they're so cramped at the current building, that they've had to convert some closets into offices.
Tulsa Police deputy chief Bill Wells: "We do things in our forensics lab that no other municipal police department does and I've very proud of what we've got down there. We just have to get some more room for these people to work."
Again, the general obligation bond election is set for April 5th. To find out more about the bond issue, check out a special web site at www.cityoftulsa.org.
