NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ The University of Oklahoma is putting its athletic recruits through an additional check, a criminal background check.

OU athletic director Joe Castiglione says the policy began this semester with the football recruiting class. He says no major problems were discovered.

Castiglione says recruits will be considered on a case-by-case basis if the criminal check turns up problems.
