An American legend stopped for a visit in Tulsa Wednesday.

Former astronaut, US Senator, and businessman John Glenn spoke at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center for the Tulsa Business Forum series.

Before his presentation, Glenn said the US became a world leader very quickly, but we're now declining in areas of research and education. "We have led the world with our economy because of basic research and we knew things and educated people that could put those things to work with new business and industry, and we're beginning to see jobs go to places around the world, where they are better qualified."

At the age of 77, Glenn became the oldest man to travel in space back in 1998. His fellow crew members hadn't even been born at the time of Glenn's first trip in 1962.
