WAYNOKA, Okla. (AP) _ The mayor of this northwestern Oklahoma town was arrested on drug charges after his car was stopped by an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper for speeding.
John Wallace Fiscus, 51, was stopped at 2:30 p.m. Monday two miles east of Oklahoma 38 on Oklahoma 11 for doing 80 mph in a 60 mph zone.
The trooper smelled marijuana in the vehicle. Fiscus said there was marijuana in the pocket of a coat in his truck and said he had smoked marijuana earlier in the day in Wichita, Kan.
The trooper found several small plastic bags containing marijuana and a small plastic bag containing a white, powdery substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.
Fiscus was booked into the Alfalfa County jail on possession charges and was released Tuesday on bond.
