UNDATED (AP) _ A Missouri man is dead Monday after the semi he was riding in struck a guard rail and then caught fire near Oklahoma City.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the impact threw Gary Wayne Enderle about ten feet from the vehicle, causing massive internal injuries in the 3:30 AM accident on Interstate 44. The 52-year-old Springfield, Missouri, resident died at the scene.
Troopers believe the semi's tire blew out, causing the driver, 22-year-old Everett Lloyd Graves, to lose control. The truck ran off the side of the road, struck a guard rail and then the cab separated from the rest of the truck and caught fire.
Graves suffered burns and was flown by helicopter to the University of Oklahoma Medical Center, where he's listed in serious condition.
