MIAMI, Okla. (AP) _ A Missouri college student is dead following a fiery one-vehicle crash at a railroad overpass west of Quapaw, Oklahoma.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 22-year-old Ryan David Brashers was killed in yesterday's crash. Brashers was from Miami, Oklahoma, and was a student at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin.
Troopers say Brashers died when his eastbound car went left of center on Oklahoma Highway 69-A at about 3:30 a-m as it approached the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad overpass.
The patrol says the vehicle struck a cement pier that supports the rail crossing. Bashers was pinned in the car as it caught fire. Troopers say he died at the scene.
Troopers say they don't know why the crash happened. The two-lane highway was dry at the time.
