OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Governor Brad Henry Wednesday announced a plan to reduce the cost of prescription drugs by allowing Oklahomans to buy cheaper drugs from Canada and other countries.
The proposal would allow Oklahoma pharmacies to buy US made prescription drugs from Canada and sell them in the state. It would create a Web site where citizens could order their drugs from Canada and other nations that buy the drugs from U-S pharmaceutical companies.
The plan also calls for creation of what Henry calls a ``SmartCard'' to allow people to take advantage of existing drug discount programs.
Henry says he's willing to challenge federal regulations if they get in the way of efforts to lower the cost of prescription drugs.
