CHANDLER, Okla. (AP) -- Lincoln County authorities are investigating the shooting of a 9-year-old girl by her 6-year-old brother at their home near Chandler.

Undersheriff Chester Duncan says the girl was shot in the leg and the wound is not considered life-threatening.

Duncan says the boy apparently took a .22 caliber rifle from a cabinet in his mother's room about 7:30 AM Wednesday and shot his sister while she slept.

A deputy says the children's grandfather broke the rifle in half after the shooting and that there are no other firearms in the home.
