An Oklahoman is among three people awarded the nation's highest civilian honor by President Bush Tuesday.

All three men were central to the President's Iraq policy. Presidential Medals of Freedom were given to retired General Tommy Franks[pictured], who oversaw the initial invasion of Iraq, former CIA Director George J. Tenet and former Iraq administrator Paul Bremer.

President Truman established the Medal of Freedom in 1945 to recognize civilians for their efforts during World War II. It was reinstated in 1963 by President Kennedy to honor distinguished service.
