OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The first case of influenza this season in Oklahoma has been reported in the Tulsa area, the Oklahoma State Department of Health said Tuesday.

Other nearby states that have reported confirmed influenza activity include Texas, Colorado and Kansas.

``This is the normal time of the year that we begin to see influenza in Oklahoma. Flu season usually runs between October through March in our state,'' said State Health Commissioner Dr. Michael Crutcher.

Health officials recommend flu immunizations for older adults, children between 6 months and 23 months and others with some chronic illnesses.
