Oklahomans are some of the most "giving" people in the country. The "Catalogue For Philanthropy" rates Oklahoma "third" on its "Generosity Index", just behind Mississippi and Arkansas.

News on 6 anchor Terry Hood says one Tulsa area charity is hoping you'll keep up that spirit of generosity by giving and giving soon.

The American Cancer Society is one of many charities around which accepts vehicles as tax-deductible donations. The Cancer Society takes the cars to auction, and gets 100% of the proceeds. The money then goes to fund cancer research, educational programs, and special services like summer camps for kids suffering with cancer.

Kasey Littlefield with the American Cancer Society: "The great thing about is you can do something in fighting cancer and do something nice by helping and donating to the American Cancer Society and you can take it off of your taxes.”

But if you're planning on donating your vehicle to the American Cancer Society, you'll want to do it before the end of the year, officials say there are some big changes coming to the tax code beginning January 1st, including the donation of vehicles.
