OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- State officials say they've reached an agreement with a carbon black plant in Ponca City that will require the company to make more than $1.6-million worth of upgrades to control air pollution.
The Department of Environmental Quality says Continental Carbon Company signed a consent order that requires them to make the upgrades or face fines of up to $1,000 per day.
The company has until the end of next year to make the necessary improvements.
The upgrades are designed to control the discharge of carbon black into the air.
