The airplane, a Beechcraft King Air 200, has been moved off a north Tulsa County road. The emergency landing and crash occurred Wednesday evening.

Federal investigators made a final check of the scene, picking up smaller pieces around the airplane, before it was lifted onto the back of a flat bed truck and hauled away. Investigators will take it to a hangar where they can more closely examine the wreckage.

The plane crash landed around 6:45 PM Wednesday near 86th Street North and Mingo. The pilot, Michael Hentges, said he should have had plenty of fuel - but on approach to the airport, the needle dropped to zero and the engines stopped.

Hentges landed the plane on the road. It finally stopped after crashing into a hill. Hentges is a 14-year veteran of flying and walked away with minor bumps and bruises.

He wasn't hurt. Hentges was returning from a business trip to Wisconsin. 86th Street North has re-opened to motorists.
