BESSIE, Okla. (AP) _ A western Oklahoma family is the first winner of the National Young Farm Family award.

Jeff and Amber Sawatsky of Bessie and their two children were chosen by the National Young Farmers Education Association over nominees from 14 other states.

They'll receive the award during a ceremony Friday in Orlando, Florida.

The Young Farmers Association says it developed the award to honor a family that exemplifies the work ethics and contributions of young farmers in the industry.
