NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ The Sooners are headed to the championship again.

Coach Bob Stoops and his team will play Southern California in the Orange Bowl on January 4th.

This will be the team's second consecutive appearance in the national title game and its third in the past five years.

It's not exactly a dynasty, but it's right up there. From 2000 until this year, Miami has played for the national title twice and five other teams _ Florida State, Nebraska, LSU, Ohio State and USC _ each have one appearance.

The Sooners started the season at No. 2 and finished there, too. After trailing USC all season, they'll get a shot at the Trojans in person.

The game will feature two Heisman Trophy candidates on each side _ Oklahoma quarterback Jason White and running back Adrian Peterson and Southern Cal quarterback Matt Leinart and tailback Reggie Bush.
