OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Oklahomans are apparently eager to find out if they have any unclaimed property being held by the state.
State Treasurer Robert Butkin says requests to the unclaimed property fund are taking at least 90 days to process because of a huge response.
Butkin's office recently sent letters to claimants asking them to be patient. Butkin says similar claims a few years ago took 13 months to process, so progress is being made.
As administrator for the unclaimed property fund, Butkin has the names of more than 500,000 Oklahomans and more than $130-million in unclaimed property.
Eight full-time staff members are working on processing nearly 3,000 pending claims.
