OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ House Speaker-designate Todd Hiett[pictured] announced his choices for committee chairmen, reducing the number of panels from 29 to 25.

Hiett has been nominated as speaker by a GOP majority, which is taking control of the House for the first time in 82 years.

Those appointed chairmen included Tulsa Representatives Chris Benge on appropriations and budget and Fred Perry on transportation.

Oklahoma City Representative Odilia Dank will be over common schools and Stillwater legislator Terry Ingmire will be chair of higher education.
