A former state representative from Broken Arrow has been arrested in Oklahoma City. Police say he admitted to dealing drugs out of his home.

Officers served a search warrant at Joseph Gordon Cooper's house Tuesday morning after receiving a tip from an informant. Oklahoma City Police say they found a few small bags of marijuana, pipes, scales and a loaded gun. Investigators consider Gordon a small time dealer, but say he won't be given any special treatment.

Mark Woodward with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics: “he indicated he wasn't selling it for profit he was selling to acquaintances but that makes no difference to us if you're selling drugs you're getting the same punishment, you're going to jail.”

Cooper currently works at the State Health Department in the immunization department as a preventive medical consultant.

The State Health Department says he is suspended with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.
