Bartlesville Police interrupt a kidnapping and ransom plot, and arrest a man wanted all over the country. The victims weren't hurt, but were close to losing a $100,000.

News on 6 reporter Emory Bryan says Bartlesville Police got involved when a woman went to pick up the second half of the money.

They found out she was 15 minutes away from handing it over to a man with a long record of stealing money from old people. A teller at an Arvest Bank branch in Bartlesville became suspicious when a woman in her 80's came in wanting $50,000 in cash. The police came over and found out the woman's husband had been kidnapped overnight in Caney, Kansas, by a man who broke into their home and demanded the money.

Bartlesville Police Chief Leo Willey: "She had been to Coffeyville and gotten $45,000 and then come to Arvest to get $50,000. Actually he wanted $100,000, but he got some money out of the safe in their home."

The suspect was arrested when he arrived to pick up the money. His name is Larry Raifsnider and he's wanted in several states. He was featured in September on the TV show "America's Most Wanted."

Raifsnider and his brother are each accused of similar crimes. The brother was arrested in August in Arkansas.
