Last year the Tulsa Police Department Cybercrime Unit received a number of E-Bay and Internet based scam ticket complaints for the Big 12 and Bowls for both the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University games.

The Big 12 Championship game is scheduled for Saturday December 4, 2004. The Orange Bowl Championship is set for Tuesday January 4, 2005. It is not known what Bowl that Oklahoma State University will be invited to as of this date.

Citizens are strongly encouraged to take extra precautions when attempting to purchase tickets or ticket deals online. They should take the following precautions at a minimum:

1. Use an intermediary to exchange money for tickets.
2. Determine where the tickets are located and contact the stadium to see who has purchased the tickets to avoid forged tickets.
3. Make sure you have the tickets in hand before exchanging money.

It is best to purchase tickets from someone you personally know or directly from the stadium.
