STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) -- An Oklahoma State University physicist and his colleagues at Oklahoma higher education institutions are trying to help unravel one of life's biggest mysteries -- the universe.

Satya Nandi says he and fewer than a dozen high-energy physicists in Oklahoma hope to be at the center of that discovery.

To keep Oklahoma at the forefront of the search, Nandi launched the Oklahoma Center for High-Energy Physics. It's a collaboration of Oklahoma researchers in that field.

By collaborating, Oklahoma's organization has won grants from the US Department of Energy. Combined with state and institutional matching funds, Nandi says the center has drawn more than $3-million to Oklahoma for such research.
