OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The state's largest religious denomination is meeting Monday in Del City.

Highlights of the annual session the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma will include the election of a new convention president.

Outgoing president, the Reverend Wade Burleson, pastor of Emmanual Baptist Church in Enid, has completed his two-year term this year. The election of officers will be held Tuesday afternoon.

Members of the Southern Baptist Convention's International Mission Board will commission some 70 people to serve as missionaries overseas.

Convention spokesman Ray Sanders says several new resolutions are expected to be presented at the meeting for consideration, including resolutions in support of a federal marriage amendment, recognition for all who worked to defeat the expansion of gambling in Oklahoma and support of the US military.

The Baptist General Convention represents the state's 1,700 Southern Baptist churches.
