OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ One of the attorneys for Oklahoma City bombing conspirator Terry Nichols is being honored by the Oklahoma Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.

Creekmore Wallace the second of Sapulpa was presented the 2004 Clarence Darrow award for his defense of Nichols in the punishment phase of his murder trial.

A jury in McAlester convicted Nichols of 160 murder charges and for the death of a fetus. But jurors were unable to agree on a sentence, sparing Nichols the death penalty.

He was sentenced to life without parole.

Wallace was in charge of the punishment phase of the trial and argued that Nichols had changed and become religious.
