NEW YORK (AP) -- Among the more than 37,000 runners in Sunday's New York City Marathon was Oklahoma's US Senator Don Nickles.
The 55-year-old Ponca City native completed the race in four hours, 27 minutes. He was about two hours and 20 minutes off the time of men's winner Hendrik Ramaala of South Africa.
Among the other notables who finished this year's New York City Marathon were 1983 French Open champion Yannick Noah and Kristin Armstrong, former wife of Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong.
Nickles is retiring from the US Senate seat he's held for 24 years. He will be replaced by Republican Tom Coburn -- a Muskogee physician who defeated Democrat Brad Carson in last week's election.
