A 17-year-old Oklahoma City girl who was the subject of an Amber Alert Sunday night is safe. Now authorities are trying to determine whether Alvis Mae Holcombe was really abducted.
The alert was issued for just before 6 PM Sunday. Police received reports a man grabbed the girl in a southeast Oklahoma City neighborhood and forced her into his car. Officials say Holcombe later called 911 and she was found at another home in the city.
Officials say it appears police were misled, but they are still talking with the girl.
There was trouble getting the Amber Alert information on the roadway signs in and around Tulsa. In fact, there was a two hour delay. The state says it had a problem with their computer servers.
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation received nearly $5-million for the signs in June 2003.
