BOISE CITY, Okla. (AP) _ The pilot of small aircraft was killed Friday when his plane crash-landed in a field in the Oklahoma Panhandle, Cimarron County authorities said.

Billy Joe Witten, 67, of Boise City, was killed when his aircraft bellied into the field near U.S. 287 north of Boise City at 12:48 p.m., investigators said.

Witten's aircraft was attempting to land at the Boise City airport when it aborted the landing. The aircraft was last seen traveling northwest from the airport.
