Many Oklahomans serving in Iraq leave their families behind. So how do families in Oklahoma feel about the stepped up military activity in the wake of the Presidential election?
Mike and Shannon Daane have two children serving; one just returned from his second tour in Iraq, the other is currently stationed there.
The Daanes were watching the election closely to see who would shape the plan that would affect their Air Force daughter and her fellow troops. They say although they would stand behind whoever landed in the White House, both they and their daughter are relieved it was President Bush. “It would definitely have affected her differently had Kerry gotten the presidency rather than Bush because their views were so different on the war."
The Daanes now hope their daughter will return home in February as scheduled and not have her tour extended because of fighting in Fallujah.
