SALT LAKE CITY (AP) _ Utah Jazz guard Carlos Arroyo had an MRI on his left ankle Friday, a day after he was injured in an exhibition game against New York.
Results from the test were not immediately available.
Near the end of the first quarter, Stephon Marbury drove past Arroyo and Jarron Collins. Arroyo got tangled up and went down clutching his left shin.
Arroyo's backup, Raul Lopez, has not played this year to rest his right knee. The team said he will be re-evaluated Sunday.
Arroyo and Lopez handled the point last season after John Stockton retired. With both the Jazz's experienced guards uncertain, Utah may have to bring in another player to run the offense.
``We'll keep watching the waiver wire,'' Jazz vice president for basketball operations Kevin O'Connor said. ``They have to have rosters in on Monday. We may have some opportunities to make a move.''
Utah opens the season at home Wednesday against the Los Angeles Lakers.
