OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ concrete safety barriers will be installed on an Oklahoma City section of I-40 where two people died in a fiery crossover collision.
Transportation officials say construction is scheduled to begin in January. The work is expected to be completed in about a year
Two people were killed Monday when their pickup truck went out of control on wet pavement and crossed the interstate highway. It struck a tractor-trailer rig that was hauling tires.
The area where the collision occurred was targeted by the Transportation Department in 2003 for safety improvements to reduce collisions.
A total of 21 crossover collisions occurred on the same stretch of interstate between January 2000 and August 31st.
