An early Wednesday morning car theft ends with one person shot and the police searching for a suspect. It happened about 1 AM near 4th and Garnett.

Tulsa Police say the victim went outside his home to see why his car alarm was going off. That's when he saw someone attempting to steal his vehicle. He tried to stop the suspect with a baseball bat.

Tulsa Police Sgt Curtis Beard: "The suspect managed to get the car started and was backing out of the drive-way and when the victim approached him, the suspect who was inside the victim's vehicle fired one shot through the side glass, striking our victim one time in the hip."

The suspect then bailed out of the car and ran away. The victim was taken to a local hospital.
