A string of arson fires is costing some northeastern Oklahoma ranchers thousands of dollars.
It's happening in Mayes County where the first fire was reported about three weeks ago. Since then there have been a dozen more, all within a five mile radius of Adair. One was set while most in the community was at a church event Sunday night.
The hay that burned was to be used for this winter's cattle feed and was worth thousands of dollars. Rancher EC Peper says this loss is about more than just the money. "It's the first barn we actually ever built ourselves and it's kind of a special thing for me."
$8,000 in reward money has been donated so far for information leading to the capture of the arsonists.
Authorities ask if you have any information to call the Mayes County Sheriff's office.
