Their goal is to feed the hungry in Tulsa. Monday afternoon, they're celebrating two decades of service.

Since 1984, the Iron Gate soup kitchen has served warm meals to as many as 400 of Tulsa's hungry and homeless every day.

To mark their 20th year, Iron Gate invited some special guests to help, including Tulsa author Michael Wallis, who received some homegrown kindness from a homeless man he helped serve. "We got to talking and some how was able to get him some encouragement and was going to get a fresh start. Who knows, but he did give me before we parted a gift of a hijacked tomato from somebody's backyard and it was all he had with him."

Iron Gate also provides groceries to needy families and winter clothing to the homeless.

If you're interested in helping Iron Gate, you can call 582-4128.
