SAPULPA, Okla. (AP) _ State and local Democrats say Sapulpa is one of the key battlegrounds for retaining political control of the State House of Representatives.
For the Republicans to win control of the house, they must win the District 30 seat in Sapulpa.
Democratic Representative Jari Askins says currently the count in the 101-seat state house is 53 Democrats and 48 Republicans.
Askins, the speaker designate of the State House of Representatives and several other Democrats where in Sapulpa for a fund-raising rally for John Mark Young, a Democrat running for the seat.
He faces Republican Brian Bingman in the November election.
