OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Congressman Brad Carson is urging southern Oklahomans to support his campaign for the Senate.

During stops in Ardmore, Madill and Marietta Sunday, Carson emphasized that he would use the position to improve the state while Republican Tom Coburn would ignore its most pressing needs.

At all three stops, Carson said that Coburn did nothing for his district when he served in Congress from 1995 to 2001 and has promised to do more of the same in the Senate.

Coburn spokesman John Hart called Carson's statements, quote, ``more liberal scare tactics.''

Hart says Coburn is a conservative who supports lower taxes and less government spending.

Ardmore resident Dana Dabbert told Carson she was undecided because of her disillusionment by politics.

Carson asked her to give him a chance.
