NICOMA PARK, Okla. (AP) _ The small Oklahoma County community of Nicoma Park has lost a police officer and a city vehicle as the result of a new state law its mayor says is unfair.

Since July 2003, the community has lost nearly 27-thousand dollars in sales tax.

Until last year, Nicoma Park thrived on local sales taxes generated by a large lumber company. Because of the new law, local sales taxes are now paid where a product is delivered instead of where it is purchased.

The sales tax law causing Nicoma Park trouble went into effect in July 2003.

The changes enacted by the 2003 Legislature caused the revenue drop. Sales taxes from Nicoma Park Lumber Company now go to the communities where the supplies are delivered.
