EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) _ The Minnesota Vikings signed linebacker Rufus Alexander on Tuesday, putting their sixth-round draft pick under contract.

Alexander was the Big 12 Conference's Defensive Player of the Year last season at Oklahoma. He's the third Vikings draft pick to sign, leaving five unsigned draftees including running back Adrian Peterson _ the seventh overall selection.

Also Tuesday, the Vikings waived three players: safety Jeremy Burnett, linebacker George Hall, and wide receiver Paris Hamilton.
