OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Former Michigan pitcher Jennie Ritter has been added to the roster for the U.S. national softball team.
Ritter, who led the Wolverines to the 2005 Women's College World Series title, will be making her first appearance for the national team this summer after earning a spot during selection camp last week.
Outfielder Kelly Kretschman and shortstop-catcher Lauren Lappin, who represented the United States at the 2004 Olympics, will return to the national team after being away last year.
The team will be without catcher Stacey Nuveman, who had a baby two weeks ago, and pitcher Lisa Fernandez, who is concentrating on training this summer but will return for Olympic tryouts in September.
The national team will represent the United States at the Canada Cup beginning June 30th, the World Cup of Softball in Oklahoma City starting July 12th and the Pan Am Games in Brazil starting July 23rd.
