CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- A new report from the federal Administration for Children and Families ranks Oklahoma at the top -- per capita -- for the deaths of children caused by child abuse. The report says that from October 2004 through September 2005 there were 41 children in Oklahoma die due to abuse or neglect.
That gives Oklahoma a rate of 4.8 deaths per 100,000 children.
The national rate is 1.96 deaths per 100,000 children.
West Virginia is second at 4.1 deaths per 100,000 while Delaware, Idaho, North Dakota, Vermont each reported no deaths
