GUTHRIE, Okla. (AP) -- Police believe a Guthrie man killed his girlfriend and then cut and slashed himself to death with a razor blade, steak knife and box cutter in an apparent murder-suicide.

The bodies of Dural Dwayne Dulan, 55, and Brenda Richmond, 49, were discovered by Richmond's family about 4:50 p.m. Sunday on the back porch of Dulan's Guthrie home, Police Chief Damon Devereaux said.

Richmond was dead at the scene, but Dulan was still alive and was taken to a hospital, where he later died, Devereaux said.

"The guy was cut up pretty bad," he said.

Police could not immediately determine the cause of Richmond's death.

"We don't know how she died," Devereaux said. "She didn't have any obvious signs of injury, so we'll have to wait for the medical examiner's report."

Police have not ruled out other suspects, but after looking at different scenarios, the evidence at the scene points to a murder-suicide, he said.

"Based on the self-inflicted injuries, we believe foul play was involved on his part," Devereaux said. "Normally if your spouse died, you'd contact law enforcement to get something done."

The pair had been dating and might have been married in the last year, he said. Police had been called to a few domestic situations involving Richmond and Dural, he said.
