TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) -- Authorities say a teenager from Georgia who was swimming at Lake Tenkiller in northeastern Oklahoma has drowned.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 16-year-old Clayton Douglas Reece of Dawsonville, Georgia, was pronounced dead at Tahlequah City Hospital Friday.

Authorities say Reece was swimming about 20 feet from the shore in the Snake Creek area of the lake when he started to struggle. He was pulled from the water by citizens in the area, who tried to resuscitate him using CPR.
