A Green Country family is outraged. Their daughter was molested by a neighbor. That neighbor was convicted and sentenced to four years in prison, but now he could go free. The Lyon's say they feel like they've been prisoners in their own home for the past year. They thought this conviction would set them free. The News On 6’s Ashli Sims reports instead, the man found guilty is the one who could walk free.

The Lyon's say a place, just a few hundred feet from their house, changed their lives forever.

"Somebody you would never suspect, and it’s harder that they were our friends. I trusted 100%. Never dreamed that anything like this would happen," said the victim’s mother Shelley Lyon.

Shelley Lyon says she found a man she trusted and called friend passionately kissing her 14-year-old daughter. The Lyon's say Raymond Newman sent the teenager gifts, wrote her love letters and molested her. Newman was arrested, tried and convicted of lewd molestation and sexual abuse of a child.

A jury recommended he serve four years in prison.

Four days later that relief has turned to dread, disbelief and anger. A judge accepted the jury's recommendation, but also granted Newman a $1 million bond, while he tries to appeal the verdict.

The Lyon's say throughout the trial Newman walked along the property that buts right up to their land.

“You know here he is, he is convicted at this point, and he's going to get out, but are we? Our daughter won't come out and play, everything in fear of him coming out," Shelley Lyon said.

In the judge's order, she said Newman was out on bond during the trial and there were no incidents between him and the victim. The girl’s father disagrees.

“There's lots of incidents. We have to see him every stinking day,” said Greg Lyon. “That's the problem. It’s just having to relive it every time she sees him."
