BAKERSFIELD, Calif. _ A small earthquake rattled southwestern Kern County early Monday, but there were no reports of injuries or damage.
The magnitude 3.7 earthquake struck at 1:15 a.m. about five miles northwest of the private community of Pine Mountain Club in the Los Padres National Forest, according to a preliminary report from the U.S. Geological Survey.
It was followed by a 2.6 aftershock 11 minutes later.
Pine Mountain Club is about 80 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.
